21 Days of Prayer & Fasting - Day 9
Day 9
Good day to each of you! Let's go in...
Devotional Scripture & Thought
Here is today's scripture with underlined areas of the verse(s) for us ALL to contemplate. I will share a brief thought and you are invited to share your thoughts about the scripture and those highlighted areas in the comments below...
"When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers." Acts 1:13-14 (NIV)
Okay, okay... I know we are to pray in our closet, but these scriptures also highlight the need for collective prayer. There is something about operating in communion with God and our brothers and sisters in Christ - all at the same time. I cannot necessarily clearly articulate it, but I know it is a real and very definitely prescribed reality for believers. Joining together for the express purpose of prayer is something that can get pushed to the back burner in our current context. (NOTE: We will be launching our in person prayer meeting on Thursdays at 6:45p where we will get together for the express purpose of lifting up prayers corporately within the next month, so be on the lookout.)
Make no mistake, we believe we are better together and that applies to prayer as well. Where can we pray collectively more? Our homes, our jobs (where it is possible to do), with our extended families, with our friends, when we go out to eat (how about asking your server if there is anything you can pray for them concerning)? The goal here is to make an impact on our lives by how we approach prayer, that it is done alone, but also in spaces collectively (appropriately).
What are you reading and what are some of your thoughts...?
My Journey's Observations
Regular uneventful fasting day here!
How about you?
(I also wanted to remind us of a great resource called RightNow Media that you have free access to for quality teaching. If you need help getting to it, please give me a call. In fact, here is an invite if you haven't already signed up.)
Finally
Remember, if you slip and eat or do something you were intending to fast from, just reset and restart. That is part of the learning curve as well.
I love you with the love of God...
Have a wonderful day and a tremendously blessed week!
Blessings,
Pastor Kris

As a child I would go to prayer meeting. There's great power when we unite in prayer. Our church use to rent space to Koreans and it would thrill my soul, for they would all lift their voices, crying out to the Lord. We have so much to pray for, my prayer list grows, so many needs in our church and community and in a world gone wrong. I'm ever greatful that we serve a caring God. This time of fasting has created a longing for more of Him and less time spent in things that creep into my life drawing me away from my relationship with the Lord.
I love this precious memory and reflection. Thank you so much for sharing!!
