21 Days of Prayer & Fasting - Day 3
Day 3
Good day to each of you! We are moving right along to day 3. My prayer is you are giving an honest effort to work through this season of getting closer to God and each other. I also hope that you are doing well over-all, even with some possible discomforts produced by the changes the prayer and fasting may be producing.
Devotional Scripture & Thought
Here is today's scripture with underlined areas of the verse(s) for us ALL to contemplate. I will share a brief thought and you are invited to share your thoughts about the scripture and those highlighted areas in the comments below...
"And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself." Luke 24:27 (NIV)
How about Jesus breaking open the Old Testament and sharing from front to back all said about him? Listen, Christ had personal disciplines and when he needed them most, he was able to tap in and live out what he needed to accomplish his mission. The object of our time, in part at least, during these 21 days is to replace dead-time scrolling and partaking in ungodly sourced materials with a specific and intentional flooding of our being with things of the Lord. It was significant enough to him to literally identify himself as The Word. He studied it and he was it, this is our goal. To study it enough that we are continually becoming it reflecting the Word by the power of the Holy Spirit. What are some of your thoughts...?
My Journey's Observations
Day two was interesting and I continued to work through cold. The headache from the previous day was limited to sinus issues and were not as bad. I had to decide if black beans and almonds were acceptable for my fasting goals. Black beans were a yes (legumes fit the food goals as a source protein), and almonds are going to be a no go (although they are plant based, I want to draw some lines as far as eating things that will fill me up).
I caught myself starting to scroll a couple of times, and I switched over to listening to teachings from a favorite credible pastor/teacher. It paid off as I was challenged and built up. The time was well spent versus mindlessly scrolling and taking in things that are not expressly God honoring and God pleasing. How about you? Have you settled in on your approach to fasting? What are you using to replace time you would normally watch tv or scroll on the internet? You are invited to share below.
Finally
Remember, if you slip and eat or do something you were intending to fast from, just reset and restart. That is part of the learning curve as well.
I love you with the love of God...
Have a wonderful day and a tremendously blessed week!
Blessings,
Pastor Kris
